About the trek

Day 1

You arrive in Chiang Mai and meet the rest of the group at the pre arranged hotel, before heading out for a team evening meal with the rest of the trekking party.

Day 2
We will drive by truck for 2.5 hours to the village of Wieng Haeng. The Trek begins with a few steep down hills followed by a 4 hour moderate walk through the jungle to the village of Lisu and on to a beautiful Karen village where we will be having dinner with the locals and sleep overnight in village shelter or hut. The village is basic, with limited electricity.

Day 3
After breakfast we visit the village school and donate some provisions, to the school children. Then we will commence a full day of trekking as a group. We will leave the village in the early morning and trek for 7 hours in total. Along the way we will have rest stops, lunch and visit the Lahu and Lisu Tribal villages. On arrival at the second village, there is a river to bathe in. The evening will be spent around the camp fire with the villagers.

Day 4
We will start off on the river on bamboo rafts made by the villagers for a couple of hours, before continuing the trek. Following lunch we will make or way through beautiful photogenic scenery, villages and poppy fields. After approximately 6 hours we reach our next rest stop in the jungle. The guides will build a bamboo camp for the night, where dinner will be served around the camp fire and a good nights rest will be had by all.

Day 5
The last day of the trek after a filling breakfast we end the trek with a 4 hour walk out of the valley to a small village for lunch. We will then be met by a truck, that will escort us up to the hill town of Pai to celebrate our achievement with a well earned warm shower and hearty dinner. Alternatively you can be transferred directly back to Chiangmai.

The participation cost is USD$300.00 and includes the following:

  • Dinner in Chiang Mai (pre trek)
  • Transfers back to Chiang Mai City (post trek from Pai or directly on finishing)

Footsteps for Good is a trekking experience that involves raising money for a good cause. To take part we ask that you make a commitment to raise $2,000. This amount may differ, if you are designing a custom trek for your business. As a team, we will sponsor a project that supports the communities in the region.

We will provide the necessary tools to collect the funds so you only need to send an email to friends and colleagues notifying them that you are taking part and of the cause you are supporting.

Footsteps for Good can also provide advice on ways to get creative with fundraising and Matt will happily speak at dinners or other social events to help raise awareness for the cause.
